Openings and Credits

For those of you complaining that the Creep doesn’t talk – that’s the Crypt Keeper. The Creep doesn’t talk.

Episode 1:
Gray Matter
During a storm, a boy stops by the local store to get beer for his dad. The shop keeper asks the sheriff to go and check on the boy’s dad after she notices some odd behaviour from him.

Hey, did you spot all the homages to Stephen King in this one? Because there were plenty! And why not, the story was an adaptation of a King short story by the same name. Let us know what you spotted in the comments.

The House of the Head
Evie loves her dolls and her dollhouse, but finds herself having to protect them when a severed head shows up from out of nowhere and starts killing them off.

I really enjoyed this story, as a person who always suspected her toys came to life while she slept, this resonated with me on a deep level. It stars Cailey Fleming, who plays Judith Grimes on The Walking Dead. She does a fantastic job, I think this girl is one to watch in the future. I found this to be really creepy, even though it was just her dolls I found myself terrified for them and in turn, for her.

Episode 2:
Bad Wolf Down
WWII soldiers encounter a werewolf.

I wasn’t too impressed with this one. It was a standard story. The effects were great. I always appreciate practical effects.

The Finger
A man finds a severed finger and brings it home, only to find out it is growing.

This was much better. The story was silly but I love how it was set up, with the main character talking to the camera. The effects were nuts!

Overall I am loving this show. Greg Nicotero is a horror fan at heart and it shows. He’s got so much respect for the genre and the source material. I’m looking forward to seeing what else they have in store for us.
