I’ve always thought the idea of The Purge would make a great TV series. There’s a lot of story that can be told. Excited?

Thriller fans, take note: A television version of The Purge will hit USA Network this September!

Following The First Purge movie this summer, The Purge series is based on Blumhouse Productions’ hit franchise – and set in the same universe. The show follows several seemingly unrelated, conflicted characters as they prepare for a 12-hour period when all crime – including murder – is legal.

Film creator James DeMonaco serves as writer and executive producer, while a host of familiar talent also contributes: Thomas Kelly (Copper, The Get Down) has been tapped as the showrunner, while Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning director of USA’s Unsolved: The Murders Of Tupac And The Notorious B.I.G., Anthony Hemingway, will direct and executive produce the premiere episode.

The Purge will premiere Tuesday, September 4 at 10/9c on USA Network with the premiere and finale episodes simulcast on SYFY.
